The São Paulo Metro has launched an advanced Operational Control Center (CCO) that utilizes more than 5,000 cameras and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the monitoring of trains and passengers throughout the city. Opened on Wednesday, this innovative facility now allows technicians to track the movements of trains that serve over 3 million passengers daily across four lines of the Metro network. A large display, measuring 36 meters with 90 individual screens, provides real-time data regarding the estimated number of passengers within each carriage and the time intervals between trains, significantly improving operational efficiency.

The CCO is located in the Liberdade district, a central area in São Paulo. According to Fábio Siqueira, the operational director, this new infrastructure aims to enhance the safety of train travel while delivering greater comfort to users. The cutting-edge AI system not only monitors passenger density within the trains but also assists in preventing overcrowding, thus minimizing discomfort during journeys.
