PalmPay equips women with fintech skills
PalmPay Nigeria has launched the Purple Women initiative to enhance women's skills in fintech and leadership amid low representation in the sector.
PalmPay Nigeria has launched its Purple Women initiative, aimed at empowering young women with the essential skills to thrive in the financial technology sector. This initiative is a response to the observed low participation of women in fintech and is part of the company's broader effort to promote gender equality in the tech industry. The program includes training in digital, business, and leadership skills, which will equip participants to navigate the evolving digital economy.
During the third edition of the Global Women’s Masterclass, which was organized in collaboration with the Global Women’s International Campaign Nigeria, Chika Nwosu, the Managing Director of PalmPay Nigeria, emphasized the need for more female representation in the fintech industry. He highlighted the initiative's goal of building a strong pipeline of female professionals poised for leadership roles within the sector. This commitment corresponds with the global celebration of International Women’s Day, underscoring the importance of gender equality in technology.
The Purple Women initiative not only seeks to empower women but also aims to inspire a cultural shift within the fintech ecosystem, advocating for equal opportunities. By addressing the gender disparity in this growing sector, PalmPay is not only investing in the future of women but also enhancing the overall diversity and innovation in fintech, which could lead to improved services and products for consumers in Nigeria and beyond.
