At least 9 killed, 44 injured in Russian attacks on Ukraine over the past day
Russian attacks in Ukraine resulted in at least nine deaths and 44 injuries in a single day, according to local authorities.
In a series of Russian airstrikes reported on March 11, Ukraine faced numerous attacks that led to at least nine fatalities and 44 injuries across different regions. The Ukrainian Air Force noted that Russia launched a total of 99 attack drones, with a significant number being the Shahed-type, although the Ukrainian air defense managed to intercept or jam 90 of them. Despite this high interception rate, some glide bomb strikes managed to cause considerable damage and loss of life near frontline regions.
The impact of these attacks was especially severe in the northern Sumy Oblast, where a bombing killed two individuals and injured three others. The Kharkiv Oblast also suffered casualties, with two deaths and seven injuries reported after a strike targeted a civilian business. Governor Oleh Syniehubov emphasized the civilian nature of the attack, highlighting concerns over the targeting of non-military sites during the ongoing conflict.
Further highlighting the tragedy, Donetsk Oblast reported four fatalities and 21 injuries from airstrikes in Sloviansk, according to Governor Vadym Filashkin. Additionally, in Kherson, attacks resulted in one death, 12 injuries, including a child, showcasing the relentless nature of the conflict and the ongoing threat to civilians in Ukraine. These events underscore the devastating consequences of the war and the need for continued international attention and support for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.
