Four Estonians Compete in Indoor Athletics World Championship, Four Others Withdraw
Four Estonian athletes will represent their country at the upcoming Indoor Athletics World Championship in Torun, Poland, while four other athletes have withdrawn due to various reasons.
The Estonian Athletics Association confirmed the national team that will participate in the Indoor World Championships held from March 20 to 22 in Torun, Poland. The team consists of four athletes competing in different events: pole vaulter Marleen MΓΌlla, who recently set a national record of 4.63 meters, hurdles runner Kreete Verlin with a national record of 7.96 seconds, middle-distance runner Uku Renek Kronbergs, and heptathlete Rasmus Roosleht.
Initially, Roosleht was set to compete alongside reigning indoor World Championship silver medalist Johannes Erm; however, Erm withdrew due to an injury. This allowed Risto Lillemets a chance to join the team, but he also had to decline for health reasons. Additionally, sprinter Ann Marii Kivikas and hurdles runner Anna Maria Millend opted out shortly before the championship, indicating they would focus on preparing for the outdoor season instead.
The Estonian athletes will compete in various events with Kronbergs starting on March 20, followed by Roosleht competing on March 20 and 21, and MΓΌlla and Verlin concluding the Estonian participation on March 22. The dynamics of the team change reflect both the competitive nature of athletics and the impact of injuries and preparation strategies as the outdoor season approaches.
