Murder during a wedding at a farmhouse, attackers opened fire on a young man
A man was shot dead at a wedding in a farmhouse in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, amidst an ongoing ceremony due to an apparent old feud.
A shocking incident took place at a wedding in the Dhūm Singh Farm House located in the town of Doghat, Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, where a man was shot dead during the celebration. The victim, Vivek, a resident of Lakha Bahawadi village in Shamli district, was attending a family event when gunmen opened fire on him in the parking area of the marriage home. The sudden burst of gunfire caused panic among the attendees, and despite being rushed to the hospital, Vivek succumbed to his injuries. He was reportedly the husband of a former village head in Shamli.
Initial investigations suggest that the shooting may have stemmed from previous enmities. In February 2015, Vivek's son had murdered a notorious criminal, Vikky Tyagi, within the court premises, and it is believed that the attack on him was an act of retribution. As the police arrived at the scene following the incident, they initiated an investigation and managed to apprehend one suspect. The motive behind the shooting points towards complex personal and familial conflicts, indicative of the violent repercussions often tied to such disputes in the region.
The incident raises alarm about safety during public gatherings in areas afflicted by prior rivalries and violence. With local law enforcement now involved, further investigations must determine the full scope of the attack, any conspirators involved, and hopefully prevent similar occurrences in the future. Residents are likely to express heightened concerns regarding their safety during celebratory events, highlighting the pervasive atmosphere of fear derived from unresolved vendettas in the community.
