Indian defense manufacturing company SMPP Limited has secured a new contract to supply around 10,000 additional bulletproof jackets for paramilitary forces, aimed at ensuring the safety of soldiers in the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and the Armed Border Force (SSB). This move comes as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the protective gear provided to these forces. Currently, SMPP is working towards fulfilling an existing order of 40,000 jackets, with 28,000 already delivered successfully. The remaining units are expected to be delivered in accordance with the contract's timelines in the next financial year.

The bulletproof jackets being produced by SMPP Limited are equipped with modern ballistic protection systems. This development is crucial as it enhances the safety of the jawans (soldiers) who are often deployed in challenging and high-risk environments.
