This Subject is Everyone's Favorite in the Matriculation Examinations - 'It's Really Difficult to Get an A'

Over 50,000 students are registered for the spring matriculation examinations in Finland, particularly favoring the language subjects.

This spring, a total of 50,400 students have signed up for Finland's matriculation examinations, marking an increase of 2,100 from the previous year. The most popular subject is the mother tongue, with the long English exam securing the second position. The secretary of the Matriculation Examination Board, Tiina Tähkä, emphasized the significance of English, noting that Finnish students have a strong command of the language, which is evident in their exam registration choices.

The matriculation exams commenced on Tuesday with assessments in Finnish and Swedish language and literature. Overall, the examinations have begun well, with only minor delays reported. Tiina Tähkä mentioned that aside from a few scheduling issues due to server problems or power outages at some high schools, the situation is markedly better than last autumn, where a technical failure interrupted language skill assessments for several hours in numerous schools.

Students and educators alike seem to have breathed a sigh of relief as the department has thus far avoided catastrophic disruptions seen in previous sessions. As the exams progress, the feedback from both students and administrative personnel indicates that preparations and the handling of the exam process have improved, boding well for the future of the Finnish education system.
