A dog was run over by a skier in Russia: 'I am in shock'

During a skiing marathon in Russia, skater Alina Kudishova ran over a dog that suddenly appeared on the slope, resulting in a shocking incident.

Over the weekend, a skiing marathon in Russia took a frightening turn when a dog ran onto the ski trail and was struck by competitor Alina Kudishova during a downhill race. Kudishova, who was in contention for the top positions, could not avoid the unexpected appearance of the animal and fell heavily after the collision. Video footage shared on Telegram shows Kudishova struggling to regain her composure at the side of the trail, visibly shaken and in pain following the incident.

Kudishova recounted her experience to Sport-Ekspress, sharing her disbelief over the unexpected encounter. She indicated that it was the first time in her life she had encountered such a situation during a race. Although she initially thought the dog would move to the left, it instead darted under her skis, leaving her with no time to react. Despite suffering injuries from the fall, Kudishova managed to continue the race but lost her chance at a medal due to the incident. Another skier also fell during the collision.

The incident left not only Kudishova shaken but also the race winner, Jevgenija Krupitskaja, who expressed her shock and struggled to compose herself in the aftermath. This unfortunate event raises concerns regarding the safety of athletes during competitions, especially when animals or unexpected obstacles are present on the course, indicating a need for better regulation and awareness during such events to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
