Horse dies tied to a tree after being taken from a farm by teenagers in Severínia

A horse died while tied to a tree in Severínia, Brazil, after being taken without permission by two teenagers, leading to charges of mistreatment and theft.

In a troubling incident in Severínia, São Paulo, a horse was found dead while tied to a tree, as reported on Monday, October 9. The horse was allegedly taken by two 16-year-old boys from a farm in Cajobi, where one of them worked, without the owner's consent. The distance traveled from Cajobi to Severínia was approximately 10 kilometers, during which the boys were riding the horses. Upon tying the horses to a tree in the city center, they went to a local store for refreshments.

When they returned to the spot where they had left the horses, they discovered one had died. According to the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), the young boys claimed they did not understand what had happened, while initial investigations suggest the horse may have died from asphyxiation due to its neck being tied tightly to the tree, causing it to attempt to pull away in a dangerous manner known as stretching. This circumstance raises alarming concerns about the treatment of animals, especially as it involves minors engaging in such irresponsible behavior.

The two teenagers were apprehended and taken to the police station, where they were interrogated and later released. The authorities are now dealing with charges of mistreatment and theft concerning their actions, highlighting the need for greater awareness and responsibility toward animal welfare among young people in the community. This incident not only emphasizes the tragic fate of the horse but also serves as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with caring for animals.
