OPA Mobile Van Mobilizes Entities in Picos, Floriano, and Piripiri
The OPA's mobile van initiative aims to engage community entities in the participatory budgeting process in Brazil.
The Digital Participatory Budgeting (OPA) program for 2026–2027 is currently open for registrations from community entities and proposal submissions until March 20th. To enhance community participation, the program has launched the "OPA Itinerant Van - Entities in Charge of Transformation" initiative, which will tour the municipalities of Picos, Floriano, and Piripiri this week. This van seeks to engage local societies and promote their roles in proposing improvements for their neighborhoods.
Enia Meneses, the Director of Participatory Budgeting, emphasizes that this initiative is designed to bring the OPA program closer to the communities, highlighting the critical role that associations and organizations play in driving change. The itinerant van provides essential guidance and support for entities in registration and proposal development. Following its current route, the van will move to Parnaíba and Teresina next week, continuing its mission to mobilize community participation and strengthen local involvement in budgeting processes.
This outreach effort is significant in fostering community engagement and ensuring that citizens have a say in the allocation of public resources. By actively involving local entities in the participatory budgeting process, the OPA initiative aims to create a more inclusive and representative framework for urban development, thereby enhancing the quality of life in Brazilian neighborhoods.
