Approval of a plan to reduce heart and vascular diseases – 47 million euros needed for its implementation
Latvia's health minister announces a strategic plan to combat heart and vascular diseases, requiring 47 million euros for effective implementation.
Heart and vascular diseases are a leading cause of mortality in the European Union, including Latvia, significantly impacting the health and overall health statistics of its population. Preventative measures, such as lifestyle changes and regular health screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose level checks, are crucial to identify changes early, assess disease risk, and prevent disease progression. Health Minister Hosams Abu Meri emphasized the importance of targeted action and shared responsibility in the care of heart and vascular diseases, urging citizens to take an active interest in their heart health and to work with their family doctors to assess risks. The clearly defined heart health care plan is essential for ensuring coordinated and effective action that can genuinely save lives, aligning with the European Union's heart health strategy.
