Low-Flying Aircraft Operations in Kuldīga District and the Surrounding Area of Ādaži Military Polygon

Military exercises in Latvia are set to enhance coordination between ground troops and military aviation for large-scale combat operations.

The upcoming military exercise from March 9 to 13 will take place in the Kuldīga military polygon 'Mežaine' and the area surrounding the Ādaži military polygon. The exercise aims to strengthen the integration of close air support, enhancing coordination between soldiers on the ground and military aircraft. This is crucial for supporting units during large-scale combat operations both in urban settings and beyond, ensuring that ground troops maintain combat readiness.

Participating in the exercise are the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces, units of the National Guard, the Air Force, as well as allied troops from the US and NATO multinational brigades stationed in the Baltic States and Poland. The operations will include flights by allied aircraft, such as fighter jets and helicopters, which will conduct low-flying operations both during daylight and nighttime. This variety in aerial operations is expected to improve the mutual cooperation of the units involved and enhance their understanding of their roles in completing overall tasks.

These types of exercises play a significant role in comprehensive national defense, contributing to the operational readiness of military units. They also assist the host nation in ensuring support for allied forces, thereby fostering stronger defense ties within the NATO framework and enhancing regional security in the Baltic region.
