Municipal Guard starts second class of arms and shooting course in Campos
The Municipal Guard in Campos dos Goytacazes has launched its second arms and shooting training class for 21 agents, aiming to enhance public safety on the streets.
The Municipal Civil Guard of Campos dos Goytacazes has initiated the second class of its Arms and Shooting course as of Monday, marking another step in its efforts to prepare law enforcement agents for effective duty. This course is specifically tailored for the operational readiness of the agents, with 21 participants currently enrolled from the Special Operations Group (GOE). Comandante Wellington Levino emphasized the importance of equipping more guards for street operations, reflecting the municipality's growing commitment to public safety.
The training program spans 130 hours, exceeding the minimum requirement of 100 hours to ensure comprehensive preparation. This decision indicates a focus on high-quality training, as the Municipal Guard aims to gradually implement firearm possession within its ranks. Initially, the program will commence with the GOE, followed by an expansion to other sectors within the guard, including canine units and traffic operations, aiming to create a well-rounded and capable unit to enhance civilian safety.
The initiation of this program follows the successful graduation of the first class earlier this year in February 2025, which showcases the evolving approach to municipal security in Campos dos Goytacazes. As the security landscape changes, the strategic training of municipal guards signals a proactive stance in addressing public safety concerns and preparing personnel for the challenges faced in a modern urban environment.
