Woman Sold Three Times in a Month, Tried to Commit Suicide Out of Fear of a Fourth Marriage, Know the Full Case

A 21-year-old woman in Maharashtra was sold three times in a month and forced into marriages, culminating in her suicide attempt due to the distress caused by human trafficking.

In a disturbing incident from the Ashti taluka of Beed district, Maharashtra, a 21-year-old married woman faced the unimaginable trauma of being sold into marriage three times in one month. The victim, originally from Latur, had been living with her parents after separating from her husband due to his abusive behavior. During this vulnerable period, she met a deceitful agent, Mahananda, in Pune, who promised her a better marriage and took her from Latur under false pretenses.

Once in Pune, Mahananda sold the victim to a man named Amar Kalbhor for 5 lakh rupees, forcing her into a marriage that lasted only ten days before she was sold to another man for approximately 4.5 lakh rupees. The trauma didn't end there, as the victim was subjected to ongoing harassment and forced marriages, leading her to desperation. Unable to endure the mental torture of being trafficked and manipulated, she attempted to take her own life by consuming poison.

This case highlights the growing issue of human trafficking in India, where vulnerable individuals, especially women, are at risk of exploitation. The incident reflects the need for stricter anti-trafficking laws, better victim support systems, and societal awareness to prevent such heinous crimes from recurring. The authorities must take decisive action against traffickers to protect victims and ensure justice is served.
