ASF and Semar strengthen coordination actions to improve superior auditing

The ASF and Semar have agreed to enhance cooperation efforts to improve oversight and auditing processes in Mexico.

David Colmenares Páramo, the Superior Auditor of the Federation, met with Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, head of the Mexican Navy Secretariat (Semar), to reinforce collaboration under their existing agreement. The aim is to enhance interinstitutional coordination and the mechanisms for joint work in the realm of auditing. This meeting is pivotal as it underlines the importance of a cohesive audit strategy between military and fiscal oversight bodies.

During this collaborative effort, both parties committed to establishing permanent working groups that will facilitate smoother communication channels. These channels are intended to expedite information exchange concerning various phases of auditing processes, including Planning, Development, Report Integration, and Follow-up. By optimizing this flow of information, the ASF aims to improve its oversight of public accounts, thus enhancing governmental transparency and accountability.

Additionally, the collaboration plans to bolster joint strategies that further ensure compliance with auditing activities. This could potentially lead to more effective legislative oversight and might improve public trust in governmental institutions by demonstrating the government’s commitment to accountability. Such coordination could also pave the way for better utilization of resources and more effective governance, which is essential for Mexico’s ongoing efforts toward institutional strengthening.
