A truck carrying 23 tons of mozzarella cheese and butter was stolen in Picos, Brazil, valued at R$ 500,000.

A truck loaded with 23 tons of mozzarella cheese and butter was stolen on the night of Sunday, October 8, in Mirolândia, a rural area of Picos, in the southern part of Piauí, Brazil. The driver was attacked by armed criminals at a gas station and was tied up inside the vehicle while the cargo was being taken away. The estimated value of the stolen load is around R$ 500,000, which highlights the significant economic impact of the crime.

According to a police report made at the Specialized Delegation of Crimes Against Property in Picos, the driver had picked up the goods in Nossa Senhora da Glória, Sergipe, and was on his way to make the first delivery in Teresina. The driver recounted to the police that around 8:30 PM, he stopped at a gas station to take a shower and have dinner. About an hour and a half later, as he was leaving the establishment to continue his journey, he was approached by two men who exited a car, one of whom was armed with a pistol and threatened him.

The suspects ordered the driver to lie down in the cab of the truck and took control of the vehicle. Following the robbery, they drove the truck to an undisclosed location to unload the stolen cargo. This incident underscores the growing concern over highway safety in Brazil, particularly in rural areas, where armed robberies are becoming increasingly common and pose significant risks to transporters and businesses involved in logistics and supply chains.
