Military operation in Orellana stops theft of 10,000 gallons of fuel from Petroamazonas
A military operation in Orellana, Ecuador, successfully thwarted the illegal theft of 10,000 gallons of fuel from Petroamazonas.
A recent military operation in the province of Orellana, Ecuador, led by the armed forces, targeted an illegal fuel siphoning operation from Petroamazonas. The operation was initiated after the forces detected a tanker truck being refueled illegally through a clandestine connection to a pipeline. Upon the military's arrival, two individuals noticed the patrolling military unit, abandoned their vehicle, and fled the scene, leaving behind evidence of their illegal activities.
During the intervention in the area of Joya de los Sachas, authorities confiscated a tanker truck containing 10,000 gallons of illegally obtained fuel. Additionally, they discovered crucial equipment used in the illegal operation, including a high-pressure valve, a clandestine connection, two high-pressure hoses measuring approximately 300 meters, and 32 security seals intended for crude oil transport. The swift action by the military not only prevented a significant volume of fuel from entering the black market but also highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the Ecuadorian government in combating organized fuel theft and ensuring the integrity of its energy resources.
The Ministry of Defense has been vocal in supporting the military’s efforts in this operation, which it views as an important step in curbing illegal fuel trade within the country. This intervention underscores the critical need for ongoing vigilance and enforcement measures to protect national resources and ensure that legal channels for the distribution of fuel are respected. Such military operations serve as a deterrent to those engaged in illegal activities and reflect the government's commitment to safeguarding Ecuador's energy integrity.
