JAMB pays CBT centres N1.57bn for 2026 UTME registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has disbursed N1.57 billion to Computer-Based Test centres for their roles in the 2026 UTME registration process.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the remittance of N1,570,671,200 to various Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres that participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration exercise. This payment covers the N700 registration fee that is collected from candidates during the registration process and is part of JAMB's strategy to streamline the financial transactions regarding examination fees.

According to JAMB, the arrangement involves collecting the N700 registration fee along with the ePIN registration charge, which is then submitted directly to accredited CBT centres on a weekly basis. This systematic payment method aims to ensure that candidates are not subject to extra charges that could arise from unauthorized fees imposed by some centres, thus protecting them from potential exploitation during the registration process.

The payment initiative, as outlined in a bulletin signed by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, is characterized as a critical move to curb abuse and improve transparency in the examination registration system. By providing structured financial support to the CBT centres, JAMB seeks to enhance the integrity and efficiency of the registration process, ultimately benefiting thousands of candidates preparing for higher education opportunities in Nigeria.
