The Vytautas the Great War Museum in Kaunas will be closed for 10 days: they explained why
The Vytautas the Great War Museum in Kaunas will be closed for ten days to ensure operational security during defense exercises related to NATO plans.
The Vytautas the Great War Museum in Kaunas will undergo a temporary closure for ten days to facilitate the planning of military exercises aimed at testing NATO defense strategies. This decision aims to ensure the operational security required during these crucial preparations. Visitors will not be able to access the museum facilities during this period, which reflects the heightened security measures in light of ongoing NATO commitments.
Despite the museum's closure, other related facilities remain operational and accessible to the public. Visitors can still enjoy the Military Technology Exhibition, the underground printing press "ab," and the exhibition of Dalios Grinkevičiūtės in Laukuva. This indicates an effort to accommodate public interest in military history while fulfilling necessary security protocols.
The museum is set to reopen on March 28, marking a return to normal operations just ahead of a significant date for Lithuania on March 29. This is the last free Sunday of the month and the anniversary of Lithuania's NATO membership, underscoring the relevance of such military exercises in the context of national security and public engagement with military heritage.
