Robbers using extreme brutality against delivery workers – How they 'trapped' them

A criminal gang that targeted delivery workers in Greece with extreme brutality has been dismantled following a coordinated police operation.

A criminal gang notorious for committing brutal robberies against delivery workers in the areas of Agia Varvara, Korydallos, and Keratsini has been apprehended by the local authorities. Six members of the gang, aged between 17 and 54, were arrested during a police operation on Thursday morning. This operation was conducted by the Crime Investigation and Resolution Department of Agia Varvara, with assistance from additional law enforcement units from West Attica.

According to the Greek Police (ELAS), the gang had been active since at least November 2025, targeting delivery workers with a coordinated approach. They posed as customers, making food orders through online delivery applications primarily during nighttime and early morning hours. This deceitful method allowed them to ambush and rob the unsuspecting delivery personnel, leading to multiple incidents of violence.

The implications of this crackdown are significant, as it not only highlights the growing concerns about safety for delivery workers in urban areas but also underscores the effectiveness of law enforcement in addressing organized crime. The arrests may serve as a deterrent to similar criminal activities, fostering a safer environment for those in the gig economy, particularly in regions frequently affected by crime.
