HelleniQ Energy: Commercial operation of photovoltaic parks in Romania has begun
HelleniQ Energy has announced the commencement of commercial operations for two photovoltaic parks in southern Romania, with a total capacity of 58 MW, as part of a deal signed in 2023.
HelleniQ Energy has successfully completed the reception and has begun commercial operations for two photovoltaic parks in southern Romania, boasting a combined capacity of 58 MW. This development is part of an agreement established in 2023 with Metlen for the construction and acquisition of four photovoltaic parks, amounting to a total capacity of 211 MW. HelleniQ Energy has indicated that the reception and operation of the two remaining projects, which will add another 153 MW, are anticipated to be completed by 2026.
With this new operational capability, HelleniQ Energy reinforces its position in the Romanian market. The total capacity of the company's renewable energy project portfolio in Romania now exceeds 850 MW, showing strong growth in an evolving market. This expansion not only enhances the companyβs strategic footing in Romania but also accelerates the internationalization of its portfolio, reflecting a broader trend among energy companies to diversify and expand their asset bases in emerging markets.
The portfolio consists of a balanced mix of technologies, including photovoltaic and wind projects, supplemented by energy storage systems. This diverse approach strengthens the flexibility and resilience of the energy system, ensuring that HelleniQ Energy can respond effectively to fluctuations in energy demand and supply. Such developments are significant as they contribute to renewable energy transitions and sustainability efforts within the region, aligning with broader European energy goals.
