In Ādaži, traffic will be monitored for three years by LMT's smart monitoring system

LMT's smart traffic monitoring system will oversee traffic in Ādaži for three years, aiming to enhance safety and compliance with traffic regulations.

In Ādaži, a town in Latvia, the mobile network operator SIA "Latvijas mobilais telefons" (LMT) has launched a smart transport monitoring system that will supervise local traffic for the next three years. Officially integrated into the traffic monitoring system since March, this initiative will capture data on drivers who violate traffic rules, ensuring that this information is relayed to the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) and local municipal police databases for enforcement action against offenders.

The smart monitoring devices will be located on Gaujas street and will specifically track non-compliance with two particular traffic signs: 'only allowed to go straight' towards the Gaujas bridge and 'only allowed to turn right' when exiting the Ādaži market square. LMT's president, Juris Binde, noted that initial observations show significant improvements in traffic safety and driving culture due to this system. He emphasized the role of modern technology in urban planning and daily life, providing essential data that can help tackle traffic management challenges.

The implementation of this smart system reflects a growing trend in utilizing technology for urban traffic solutions. By offering real-time monitoring and data collection, it aims not only to penalize violations but also to create a more organized and safer driving environment in Ādaži. This initiative serves as a promising model for other towns and cities looking to improve their traffic management processes through innovative technology.
