TeKnowledge, Microsoft expand AI skills programme targeting 10,000 Nigerians

TeKnowledge and Microsoft are launching a second phase of an AI skills program in Nigeria, aiming to train over 10,000 participants.

TeKnowledge has announced an expanded partnership with Microsoft to implement the second phase of its AI national skilling initiative in Nigeria. This phase aims to reach and skill more than 10,000 individuals, focusing on improving workforce readiness and promoting AI adoption in the country. The announcement was made in Lagos, emphasizing the pivotal role of TeKnowledge in the effective execution of the program.

This initiative builds on the success of previous efforts initiated in 2025, where TeKnowledge played a crucial role in one of Nigeria's most significant AI capability-building programs. During that phase, over 50,000 individuals were introduced to foundational and intermediate AI skills, helping to create a capable workforce. More than 3,000 participants also advanced their training, obtaining Microsoft AI certifications in various technical specialties, demonstrating the initiative's effectiveness in enhancing skill levels.

The newly expanded program will include a combination of awareness campaigns and structured learning pathways, providing comprehensive training and resources to participants. It underscores Nigeria's commitment to cultivating a skilled workforce that can navigate the complexities of AI technology and contribute to its growing importance in the global economy. This program also serves as a vital step toward fostering innovation and ensuring that Nigeria doesn't lag behind in the tech revolution that AI represents.
