Lee Jae-ryong, who denied drunk driving, admits to drinking 4 glasses of soju

Actor Lee Jae-ryong has admitted to drinking four glasses of soju before a traffic accident, which he initially denied.

Actor Lee Jae-ryong is facing allegations of a hit-and-run incident after he reportedly fled the scene of a traffic accident while driving under the influence. On September 9, authorities confirmed that he admitted to consuming four glasses of soju before the accident during a police inquiry. The accident occurred near Samsung Central Station in Gangnam, Seoul, where he collided with a central divider and subsequently drove away, only to be captured three hours later.

Following the incident, Lee was brought in for questioning, during which he initially denied drinking and insisted that he had only consumed alcohol at a friend's house. However, he later changed his statement, confessing to driving after drinking. Police reported that his blood alcohol level was at a point that would warrant a suspension of his driving license. The police also indicated that they would be using CCTV footage to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the accident.

This is not Lee Jae-ryong's first brush with the law regarding alcohol; he faced a similar issue in 2003 when his license was revoked due to a drunk driving incident. Additionally, in 2019, he was accused of property damage after knocking over a sign at a bowling alley while intoxicated, which resulted in a deferred prosecution decision. This recurring behavior raises concerns about the actor's responsibility and the implications of drunk driving laws in South Korea.
