Water Levels Rising in the Daugava

Water levels in the Daugava River Basin are rising, particularly influenced by snow melt and ice conditions.

Recent reports indicate an increase in water levels within the Daugava River Basin, which covers parts of Latvia and extends into neighboring Belarus and Russia. Areas such as Latgale and Sēlija still have a snow cover of 5 to 28 centimeters, although the snow has almost completely melted in Kurzemē except for the southern regions and scattered areas in Vidzemē. In Kurzemes rivers, water levels are mostly decreasing; however, the Bārta River maintains high levels, while the water level in Bērze at Līvbērze has decreased by 20 centimeters in recent days, with similar patterns observed in other rivers of the Lielupe Basin.
