The spring water level rise begins in Latvia rivers
Due to melting snow, water levels in Latvia's rivers are rising, particularly in Kurzeme, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
In Latvia, the onset of spring has led to a significant rise in water levels in the country's rivers, primarily driven by melting snow. Recent reports from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre indicate that in the last few days, the water levels have increased sharply, especially in the Kurzeme region. Notable increases include a rise of 1.35 meters in the Abava tributary at Imula and 75 centimeters near Renda. Overall, water levels have risen by about one meter in western Kurzeme rivers such as Durbē, Rīvā, and Užavā, with similar trends noted in the upper reaches of the Bārta River.
