Flip will take a delegation of Brazilian authors to the Hay Festival in Wales

The Flip Literary Festival from Brazil will send a delegation of authors to the Hay Festival in Wales as part of a cultural exchange program between the UK and Brazil.

The Flip (International Literary Festival of Paraty) is set to send a delegation of Brazilian authors to the Hay Festival, a renowned literary event in Hay-on-Wye, Wales, scheduled for May 21-31. This initiative is part of the UK-Brazil season, a cultural exchange program that aims to strengthen ties between the two countries, facilitated by the British Council and Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Instituto Guimarães Rosa. The delegation will feature Brazilian author Milton Hatoum, anthropologist Hanna Limulja, and chef and writer Bel Coelho, showcasing a diverse representation of Brazil's cultural and literary talent.

The delegation will start its participation with Hanna Limulja on May 23, where she will discuss her work "O Desejo dos Outros – Uma Etnografia dos Sonhos Yanomami" alongside Bolivian writer Liliana Colanzi. This event highlights the importance of cross-cultural dialogue and sharing narratives that connect different Latin American experiences. The next day, Hatoum will be involved in a discussion moderated by a journalist, further emphasizing the role of literature in addressing social issues and fostering international understanding.

This collaboration not only promotes Brazilian literature on an international platform but also opens opportunities for cultural exchange that can benefit both Brazil and the UK. By participating in prestigious events like the Hay Festival, Brazilian authors can gain exposure to global audiences and create lasting connections, thus enhancing the visibility of Brazilian cultural contributions in the literary world, which is vital for promoting diversity and inclusion within the global literary community.
