Sookmyung Women's University Holds 'Women in STEM' Forum with the European Union Embassy in Korea on International Women's Day
Sookmyung Women's University hosted a 'Women in STEM' forum in collaboration with the European Union Embassy in Korea and the WISET foundation to discuss ways to enhance women's participation in STEM fields.
On March 6, Sookmyung Women's University organized the 'Women in STEM' forum at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, in celebration of International Women's Day. The event aimed to brainstorm strategies to increase female participation in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, as well as to discuss fostering the next generation of female scientists and technologists. Current statistics show that only about 33% of STEM graduates in Europe are women, with South Korea having an even lower figure of approximately 23.9% of female PhD holders in STEM fields, making it one of the lowest among OECD countries.
