Over 300 paintings depicting Yun Dong-ju's poetry created with AI technology and imagination
An exhibition featuring over 300 AI-generated paintings based on the poetry of celebrated Korean poet Yun Dong-ju has opened in Seoul.
In commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the death of the beloved Korean poet Yun Dong-ju (1917-1945), an exhibition showcasing over 300 paintings inspired by his works has been unveiled at the Mona Lisa Gallery in Insadong, Seoul. The exhibition, titled 'Poet Yun Dong-ju: And Write and Sing,' leverages artificial intelligence (AI) technology to visualize the imagery contained in Yun's poetry, providing a modern interpretation of his timeless words. The exhibition features individual artworks created by artist Kim Yeon-sik, who employed AI to interpret 116 of Yun's poems, childrenβs poems, and prose, resulting in a diverse collection of visual representations. In addition to the artwork, the exhibition also includes music composed using AI, based on the verses of Yun Dong-ju, blending literary art with musical innovation in a contemporary context. An accompanying book that showcases both the displayed artworks and original texts has also been published. Running until the 16th of this month, the exhibition represents a significant fusion of traditional literature and cutting-edge technology, inviting both admirers of Yun Dong-ju's legacy and those interested in the evolving role of AI in the arts to engage with the material. It serves not only as a tribute to the poet's enduring influence but also as a platform for exploring the intersection of creativity and technology in today's artistic landscape.
