In front of Re-Pa, police arrest more suspects of attacking the headquarters of organized supporters of Remo and Paysandu

The Civil Police of Pará have arrested two more suspects connected to violent attacks against the headquarters of organized fan groups for the football clubs Remo and Paysandu.

The Civil Police of Pará carried out an operation leading to the arrest of two additional suspects involved in the attacks on organized fan groups for the football teams Remo and Paysandu. These arrests occurred just before another traditional match between the two rivals, underscoring the ongoing tensions. The match is set to take place at Mangueirão in Belém as part of the final of the Paraense Championship.

The violent incidents, which involved vandalism and assaults on the fan group facilities, originated back in February. In response to these events, authorities initiated two investigations to uncover the details surrounding these acts of violence, culminating in a police operation called "Jogo Limpo". This operation, which was launched just prior to the latest arrests, aimed to apprehend individuals responsible for fostering violence among rival fan bases. In total, nine suspects have been detained under this initiative focused on upholding public order and ensuring the safety of football spectators.

The investigation is being conducted by the Delegacia de Proteção ao Torcedor e de Grandes Eventos (DPTGE), a specialized police unit dedicated to protecting football fans and managing large events. The police stressed the importance of their work in preventing further violent incidents and maintaining a safe environment for fans as football matches continue to draw passionate crowds in Brazil, particularly during high-stakes games between longstanding rivals like Remo and Paysandu.
