Over 160 Finns are finally on their way home โ Here's how many children are on the flight
A repatriation flight organized by the Finnish Foreign Ministry carrying over 160 Finns, including more than 70 children, has departed from Muscat, Oman, and is scheduled to land at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport at midnight.
A repatriation flight organized by the Finnish Foreign Ministry has successfully departed from Muscat, Oman, bringing back over 160 Finnish citizens stranded in the Middle East. The flight left shortly after 4 PM Finnish time and is expected to arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport by midnight. This initiative comes in the wake of a growing demand for transport back home, as the Finnish Foreign Ministry initially noted interest from over 600 citizens regarding the flight.
Initially, around 390 individuals signed up for the flight; however, over 100 later canceled their intention to travel. In line with the ministry's commitment to prioritize vulnerable groups, those traveling with children under 16 were given precedence for the flight. The decision reflects a broader strategy to ensure the safe return of families amid pressing circumstances in the region.
The repatriation flight, which costs 1,230 euros per adult, has been structured to accommodate Finns needing to return home in a timely and organized fashion. This price represents a reduction from earlier plans that cited a fee of 2,300 euros, highlighting the ministry's focus on making the flight accessible to families. This development illustrates Finlandโs ongoing efforts to support its citizens abroad, particularly in times of crisis.
