Latvian Luge Athletes Place Third in Team Relay at World Cup
Latvian luge team secured a third place in the team relay event at the World Cup finale in Germany.
The Latvian luge team, consisting of Kendija Aparjode, Mārtiņš Bots/Roberts Plūme, Kaspars Rinks, and Marta Robežniece/Kitija Bogdanova, achieved a commendable third place in the team relay at the final stage of the World Cup held in Germany. The competition saw a total of seven teams, with six successfully crossing the finish line, while the German team did not complete their run. The victorious team was from Austria, finishing with a time of three minutes and 11.454 seconds, closely followed by the Italian team, which trailed by just 0.218 seconds.
Despite their solid performance, the Latvians finished 1.231 seconds behind the winners, which placed them in a respectable third position. Throughout the World Cup, which consisted of nine events, the Latvian team demonstrated consistent performance and resilience, securing their overall second place in the final standings with a total of 410 points, just behind the Austrian team, which dominated the competition with 540 points. The season included six team relay events, highlighting the growing competitiveness of the Latvian luge athletes in the international arena.
