Latvian biathletes finish 15th in World Cup relay stage

Latvian biathletes secured 15th place at the World Cup relay stage in Finland, completing the 4x7.5 km race.

On Saturday, Latvian biathletes finished in 15th place at the seventh stage of the World Cup men's 4x7.5 km relay held in Finland. The team, consisting of Andrejs Rastorgujevs, Renārs Birkentāls, Edgars Mise, and Aleksandrs Patrijuks, accumulated two penalty laps and used 14 spare rounds, finishing 3 minutes and 17.1 seconds behind the winning Norwegian team.

The Norwegian team, which included Juhanness Dāle-Ševdāls, Juhans Ūlavs Botns, Sturla Holms Lēgreids, and Vetle Šostads Kristiansens, completed the distance in 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 30.7 seconds, only using seven spare rounds. The French team took second place with six spare rounds used, finishing just 19.1 seconds after the winners, while the Swedish team rounded out the podium, using one penalty lap and ten spare rounds to finish 48.1 seconds behind the Norwegians.

The event saw 22 teams starting, with 21 successfully reaching the finish line. The conclusion of the World Cup stage is set for Sunday with the women’s 4x6 km relay, indicating continued competition and opportunities for improvement for all participating teams.
