The removal of vehicles from the Multicommerce building will depend on the stability of the structure: 'If it continues to move, it is impossible to authorize any plan'

The removal of vehicles trapped in the Multicommerce building, which caught fire on February 11, is contingent upon a detailed technical assessment of the building's stability.

Following a fire at the Multicommerce building on February 11, officials from Segura EP have stated that assessing the feasibility of removing trapped vehicles is reliant on a technical report regarding the structural stability of the building. A private consultancy, hired by one of the property owners, is conducting ongoing monitoring in the area to evaluate the situation.

Alex Anchundia, the manager of Segura EP, revealed that after firefighters completed their operations, measurements taken over three days indicated a displacement of approximately 2.5 centimeters in one of the towers. This measurement raises concerns about the building's integrity and informs the decision-making process regarding the removal of vehicles. The officials are requesting property owners to present their plans for vehicle removal based on the technical assessments.

In a report presented to the affected parties on February 27, Segura EP outlined the need for close observation as any further movements of the structure could impede any plans to extricate the vehicles safely. Continuing developments on this situation underscore the challenges facing both the property owners and local authorities while prioritizing safety and structural integrity amidst these ongoing assessments.
