Smoke Again Observed in Warehouse Burned Down a Week Ago in Vilnius
Smoke has been reported coming from the warehouse in Vilnius that burned down last week, prompting a new response from firefighters.
Authorities in Vilnius have reported smoke rising again from a warehouse that experienced a massive fire last week. Firefighters were alerted to the situation at 10:20 AM when smoke began to emerge through holes in the partially collapsed roof. In response, two fire trucks were dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and search for any lingering hotspots.
The major fire at this location occurred on February 26th, starting around 9:10 PM, and it took firefighters until the following day to extinguish it completely. The blaze ravaged approximately 5,000 square meters of the interior space of the warehouse, destroying stored goods within. Over 500 firefighters were mobilized to tackle the flames during the original incident.
In light of the recently observed smoke, concern has heightened regarding the safety of the site and the potential for another outbreak. Authorities are continuing investigations into the cause of the fire, which has led to a pre-trial investigation for property destruction through a generally dangerous method. The incident highlights ongoing challenges in fire safety management for large storage facilities in urban areas.
