Technical sector students recognize their value in the job market
Students in the technical fields participated in a career fair to connect with potential employers and understand the skills needed for future jobs.
On March 6th, the Ķīpsala exhibition hall buzzed with activity as numerous companies and organizations set up booths to recruit new employees. Līga Ancīte, the organizer of the career day, emphasized that this event is one of the largest public events organized by the Riga Technical University (RTU), inviting students from various institutions to explore job opportunities. She described the career day as a bridge connecting students to potential employers, allowing them to learn about companies and the skills necessary for future employment.
For students, this event serves as an essential platform to gain insights into the industries they might enter after graduation. It provides them with opportunities to learn about various companies and understand the competencies they need to develop to be successful in the workforce. Leading companies such as Latvijas finieris and ZZ Dats consistently participate, and this year marked the debut of a stand from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which aims to engage youth in diverse projects and initiatives. This highlights the increasing interest of significant multinational organizations in connecting with students.
As students navigate their career paths, understanding their value and marketability in the job market becomes crucial. Events like the career day at RTU not only enhance their awareness of potential career paths but also equip them with the necessary tools to succeed in securing employment. The emphasis on fostering connections between students and companies is vital for promoting collaboration and preparing the next generation of professionals for the challenges of the workforce.
