The hospitality industry looks for job seekers at the job fair

Employers in the hospitality sector met potential employees at a job fair, discussing vacancies and career development opportunities.

At a recent job fair organized for the hospitality sector, employers engaged directly with potential employees to promote available job positions and discuss working conditions and growth opportunities within the industry. The event showcased a wide range of vacancies, from waitstaff and cooks to administrative and managerial positions. Organizers emphasized that such in-person events significantly streamline the transition from job search to actual employment, facilitating connections between employers and job seekers.

The State Employment Agency of Latvia (NVA) reported that the hospitality sector has registered 400 vacancies, with half located in Riga, where the most sought-after position is chef. According to Ieva Hahele, the head of NVA's regional office in Riga, employers prioritize candidates whose skills align with their needs and often look for those with specific kitchen experience. This highlights the industry's continuous demand for skilled labor as it strives to recover and grow post-pandemic.

Despite ongoing development within the hospitality sector, one of the primary challenges remains the availability of workers. The industry is actively seeking ways to connect employers with employees directly, underlining the critical need for skilled workers to support its growth. The message from the event is clear: while the sector is expanding, there is a persistent scarcity of workers, emphasizing the importance of events that foster these crucial interactions.
