The 'Boņuks 2025' award ceremony, recognizing achievements in Latgalian culture, will take place on March 14 in Rēzekne.

The 'Boņuks 2025' award ceremony, an annual event celebrating achievements in Latgalian culture, is scheduled for March 14 at the Latgale Embassy 'Gors' in Rēzekne. This event is significant in the cultural calendar, marking its 18th occurrence and highlighting ten outstanding contributions to Latgalian culture in 2025 with awards in the form of decorative clay statues known as 'Boņuka'.

From March 2 to 11, the public is invited to vote for their favorite among the 30 nominees for the award. This interactive voting process, facilitated by the cultural portal lakuga.lv and the Latvian Public Media portal LSM.lv, allows the community to engage with their cultural identity by selecting notable events, personalities, or activities from the past year. The anticipation builds as the award for the audience's favorite, named 'Žyka', will also be revealed during the ceremony, marking its eighth year of distribution.

The 'Boņuks' awards serve not just as recognition of individual achievements, but also as a celebration of the collective efforts that contribute to the promotion and preservation of Latgalian culture. As the ceremony approaches, it becomes a focal point for celebrating local heritage and fostering a sense of community among Latgalians, making it a much-anticipated highlight in the cultural landscape for 2025.
