Awarded "Kilograms of Culture 2025" Laureates
The winners of the Latvian Public Media's annual cultural awards 'Kilograms of Culture 2025' were announced, recognizing achievements in various cultural categories.
On Saturday evening, the Latvian Public Media (LSM) announced the laureates of their annual cultural awards known as 'Kilograms of Culture 2025.' The awards celebrate accomplishments across ten categories, highlighting the rich cultural scene in Latvia. Among the notable winners was the state academic choir 'Latvija,' which received the music award for their concert 'Es zinu, kā roze plaukst,' dedicated to marking the 150th anniversary of composer Emīls Dārziņš.
In the cinema category, the award was given to Dzintars Dreiberga for his film 'Tīklā. TTT leģendas dzimšana,' produced by 'Kultfilma.' The theatre award went to director Reiņa Suhanova for the performance of 'Mēdeja' at the Valmiera Theatre. Furthermore, the visual arts were celebrated with the award going to the exhibition 'Pļava,' showcasing the tapestry of Ivetas Vecenāne and the quilts of Latvia's regional artisans at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design.
The literature award was secured by Virdžīnija Lejiņa for her novel 'Reizēm. Vienmēr. Nekad,' while the pop culture award recognized the band 'Sudden Lights' for their large concert at the Xiaomi Arena. These awards not only acknowledge individual artistic efforts but also reflect the cultural diversity and artistic talent present in Latvia today, encouraging continued innovation and creativity in various cultural domains.
