Drugs and replica weapon are found by sniffer dogs in the Center of Petrópolis
Sniffer dogs trained by the Municipal Guard of Petrópolis discovered illegal drugs and a replica firearm during training exercises in the area near the Municipal Cemetery.
On Saturday morning, the Municipal Guard's canine unit in Petrópolis, located in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, uncovered a stash of illegal substances and a replica firearm hidden in a forested area near the Municipal Cemetery. The finding took place during a training session designed to enhance the dogs' skills in detecting drugs and locating bodies. The police report highlights that two men present at the scene exhibited signs of nervousness and left the area shortly before officers could question them.
The operation led to the recovery of significant quantities of illegal drugs, specifically, 17 pouches of cocaine, five packets of marijuana, three stones of crack, a canister of a harmful aerosol, and a toy gun resembling a firearm. The drugs were uncovered thanks to the assistance of specially trained dogs who pointed to the hidden location of the narcotics. After the seizure, all items were transported to the 105th Police Station in Retiro, where the incident was officially recorded.
This discovery underscores the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and the effectiveness of utilizing trained dogs in law enforcement. The swift response and diligence of the Municipal Guard reflect an active approach to maintaining public safety and addressing the challenges associated with drug-related incidents in the area. The presence of suspicious individuals at the time of discovery further raises concerns regarding local drug activity and potential crime in the vicinity.
