Men caught selling counterfeit products in downtown Petrópolis

Four men were apprehended for selling counterfeit goods in the historic center of Petrópolis during a municipal operation against illegal trade.

Four men were apprehended for selling counterfeit products in the historic center of Petrópolis in a police operation conducted by the local government. This operation took place on a Friday afternoon as part of the city's efforts to curb illegal commerce. The suspects were reportedly selling items on the streets of Imperador and Paulo Barbosa, having traveled from Duque de Caxias to engage in this illicit trade.

During the police action, authorities confiscated counterfeit perfumes and caps that lacked proper provenance and were being sold without the necessary permits for street vending. All seized items were taken to the local police station at 105th Police Delegation for processing, and the incident highlighted the ongoing issues of unregulated sales in Petrópolis.

The municipal government reiterated that street vending in the historic center is only permitted in designated areas, such as Praça Clementina de Jesus and Rua Epitácio Pessoa, and that all current spots are fully allocated. This enforcement action seems aimed at maintaining order in the city’s historic district while addressing the challenges posed by unauthorized commercial activity.
