ANT resumes 9 services and 155 procedures from March 9: agency service points open their doors
Starting March 9, Ecuador's National Transit Agency will resume 9 services and 155 procedures, with most service points reopening nationwide except for those in Mejía and Cayambe.
Beginning March 9, the National Transit Agency (ANT) in Ecuador will resume nine services and 155 procedures across the country. This marks a significant recovery as they reopen most public service points, although agencies located in Mejía and Cayambe will remain temporarily closed. The ANT's decision reflects an effort to restore over 80% of the services previously offered, indicating a shift toward normal operation in the agency's functions.
However, it is important to note that certain procedures will not be immediately available. On the reopening day, the processes for updating personal information and the issuance of new or renewed driver's licenses will not be operational. These specific services are still undergoing technical testing and validation of requirements, which the agency anticipates will be completed by March 13. This highlights a cautious approach to resuming operations, ensuring that critical updates and services meet necessary standards before being fully reinstated.
Additionally, the ANT has announced a temporary measure extending the validity of driver's licenses that expired on January 30, 2023, until June 30, 2026. This extension aims to accommodate citizens affected by the service disruptions during the closure, ensuring that they can continue to use their licenses without penalty. The agency is also resuming the acceptance of psychometric tests that had lapsed during the previous period of inactivity, showcasing its commitment to addressing the backlog caused by the closure and facilitating smoother operations for the public moving forward.
