UNIOSUN gets full accreditation to graduate medical students
Osun State University has received full accreditation from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to graduate medical students.
Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has achieved full accreditation from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, marking a significant milestone in its journey to graduate medical students. The accreditation was confirmed during a visit by Prof. Fatimah Kyari, Registrar of the Council, along with her accreditation team, to the Government House in Osogbo. The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, expressed his delight over the development and pledged to continue supporting the university as it strives for academic excellence.
During the visit, Prof. Kyari recognized the crucial role played by Governor Adeleke in providing the necessary infrastructure and support to allow for the final accreditation of the College of Medicine at UNIOSUN. This achievement comes after a relatively swift accreditation process within just seven years, during which the university has made significant strides under the governor's leadership. Dr. Nnaemeka Nwakanma, the Deputy Registrar, highlighted that the governor's efforts have placed the university in a desirable position to deliver quality medical education.
As a result of this accreditation, UNIOSUN can now officially graduate medical students, which is likely to enhance the university's reputation and contribute to the healthcare sector in Nigeria. The support from the state government is expected to continue, allowing the institution to pursue further enhancements in facilities and academic programs. This milestone not only reflects the university's growth but also emphasizes the importance of governmental support in higher education and healthcare qualifications in Nigeria.
