Argentines will work in Brazil after Milei ends minimum price of mate herb

The number of Argentinians seeking employment in Brazil has surged, attributed to the end of the minimum price policy for mate under President Javier Milei.

The demand for CPFs (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas) among Argentinians has markedly increased, with the Brazilian Federal Revenue service reporting the issuance of nearly 40,000 CPFs last year compared to around 8,000 annually between 2016 and 2021. This rise is largely due to an influx of individuals from the province of Misiones, which borders Brazil and is renowned for its mate production, a traditional beverage consumed widely in the region. The proximity to Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná, and the presence of Puerto Iguazu at the tri-border area further facilitate this migration.
