Of the Baltic capitals, Riga has seen the smallest increase in fuel prices

Riga experienced the smallest fuel price increase among the Baltic capitals, with petrol prices rising by 5.1% and diesel by 9%.

In recent days, the capital city of Riga has witnessed the smallest increase in fuel prices compared to Tallinn and Vilnius. As of the end of the work week, the price for 95 petrol in Riga rose by 5.1% to 1.634 euros per liter, while the price of diesel saw a larger increase of 9%, reaching 1.694 euros per liter. In contrast, Vilnius recorded the highest price for diesel, while Tallinn’s petrol prices rose the most at an increase of 10.5% over the same period.

At the Circle K fuel station on Krasta Street in Riga, the price hike reflects a broader trend seen in the Baltic region. In Vilnius, the petrol price was 1.614 euros per liter after a 1.9% increase, and diesel fuel also saw an uptick of 6.9%, bringing it to 1.854 euros per liter. Meanwhile, Tallinn experienced a significant jump in diesel prices, which surged by a staggering 25.2% over the week. This variation in fuel prices across the three capitals emphasizes the volatility of the fuel market in the region.

Additionally, it is noteworthy that the price of autogas in Riga remained stable, unchanged at 0.935 euros per liter, which may offer some relief for drivers amidst the rising costs of petrol and diesel. The fluctuations in fuel prices can have broader implications on transportation costs and overall inflation in the Baltic economies, often leading to increased scrutiny and calls for regulatory oversight regarding fuel pricing.
