The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says, 'Tomorrow, we will push for the departure of a chartered flight with 290 seats from the UAE'

The South Korean government announced efforts to arrange a charter flight of 290 seats departing from the UAE for its citizens, prioritizing vulnerable groups like the elderly and pregnant women.

The South Korean government has revealed plans for a charter flight carrying 290 seats, set to depart from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 8th of this month local time. In a press announcement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they are coordinating with Etihad Airways to operate this flight. Scheduled to leave at 12 PM UAE time (5 PM KST), the flight aims to assist South Korean nationals reportedly needing return assistance from the region.

In advance of the flight, the South Korean embassy in the UAE is conducting a survey to determine demand among citizens. This survey will prioritize vulnerable groups, including seriously ill patients, pregnant women, the elderly, and young children, ensuring that those who may need special attention are given priority for boarding. This approach displays a considerate strategy in addressing the challenges faced by these groups.

Regarding the costs associated with the charter flight, the Ministry has indicated that passengers will be charged a reasonable standard fare, which will be billed retrospectively. This suggests that the government aims to facilitate the travel of its citizens while maintaining accountability and ensuring financial transparency around the operation of the chartered service.
