Fake modeling agency targeted by investigation in Santos; over 10 victims identified
A false modeling agency in Santos, Brazil, has been investigated by police after more than ten victims report scams totaling about R$ 3,000 each.
In Santos, São Paulo, police have executed a search and seizure warrant at a fraudulent modeling agency following an investigation into a scheme of scamming victims out of money. Over ten victims have been identified, each reporting losses of around R$ 3,000 due to the agency's deceptive practices. The investigation was prompted by multiple reports from victims describing similar fraudulent experiences.
The Police Civil found that the suspects involved in this scam would rent commercial spaces and pose as members of a legitimate modeling agency. They promised victims opportunities in the job market, including photo shoots and audiovisual material production. Victims were led to believe they would gain work in the modeling industry but were then asked to pay various fees for these alleged services, which they never received.
As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement is working to gather more information and potentially identify additional victims of this fraudulent operation. The local community is urged to report any similar experiences they may have encountered in an attempt to prevent further scams of this nature.
