Scammer offered salaries of R$ 5,800 in fake job vacancies to steal data and incur debts in the names of 'candidates' in Paraná; see prints

A woman in Brazil was arrested for offering fake job vacancies with high salaries to scam job seekers into providing personal information and incurring debt under their names.

A 32-year-old woman named Andressa Leal de Souza has been arrested for allegedly creating fake job vacancies to defraud job seekers in the state of Paraná, Brazil. Offering attractive salaries of over R$ 5,800, she lured victims into a trap where she would conduct fake interviews to steal their personal information. The Civil Police report that she targeted at least five people in the city of Ponta Grossa, which is part of the Campos Gerais region, during January 2026.

According to Delegate Gabriel Munhoz, the fraudulent acts took place in January, and Souza was apprehended in February while committing similar crimes in Guarapuava, a city located about 160 kilometers away. The fabricated job vacancies included positions such as private nurse and executive driver, and, alongside the enticing salary, she promised various benefits including meal vouchers, health plans, and dental coverage.

The investigation into this scam not only highlights the vulnerability of job seekers to such fraudulent schemes but also points to a rising trend of job-related scams in Brazil.
