On Monday, the 9th, Folha will host the premiere of 'Pele de Vidro,' a thought-provoking documentary by filmmaker Denise Zmekhol. The film intertwines housing policies in Brazil with personal memories, offering a unique perspective on societal issues. Denise Zmekhol, who has been living in the United States for nearly three decades, began working on the film as a way to connect with her father's legacy, the architect Roger Zmekhol, who designed the Wilton Paes de Almeida building. This modernist glass skyscraper, once home to hundreds of homeless residents, tragically caught fire and collapsed in 2018, resulting in seven deaths and nearly 300 families losing their homes. The documentary seeks to delve into the lives of those who once resided in the building, capturing their stories of survival and resilience.
