Three men were arrested during Operation Zero Tolerance against criminal factions in Rondonópolis, Brazil, for being part of a gang involved in cattle theft.
On Friday, three men were arrested in a police operation targeting criminal factions in the rural area of Rondonópolis, located 218 km from Cuiabá, Brazil. The operation, dubbed Operation Zero Tolerance, was initiated by the Military Police following intelligence reports that a group was planning to steal approximately 30 head of cattle from a farm in the Cabeceira do Almoço region. The police had prior knowledge of the suspects, who had outstanding arrest warrants, and were linked to a gang specializing in cattle theft.
During surveillance, police spotted the suspects in a vehicle transporting nine animals, including a calf. Upon their approach, one of the arrested individuals confessed to having broken the farm's padlock to facilitate the theft. The operation highlighted the ongoing issues of livestock theft in the region, which not only affects local farmers economically but also raises concerns about the safety and security of agricultural practices in rural areas.
In addition to the recovery of stolen cattle, police found a .22 caliber revolver with six live rounds, various tools such as pliers, a chainsaw, a sledgehammer, and saw blades in the suspects' vehicle. This kind of criminal activity poses serious threats to the agricultural community and, as such, law enforcement is intensifying its efforts to combat such crimes to ensure the protection of local farmers and their livelihoods.
